In His Word 3-27-23
Sometimes we feel we are too weak to pray for lack of faith or hope. Sometimes we do not even know what to do in a situation we are walking through. We can feel as if we are walking through haizy fog with not clear view of a way out. Fear may grip us and it may be hard to even breath. Yet we what we need is to breathe the name of Jesus.
Life problems often can bring us to the point of not even thinking straight not to mention that we should pray.
Often we are told to pray but we really are not ready to do
so. In order to be ready to pray, or talk to God about anything we first need
to know that we believe that Jesus is Lord. We have to recall that He is able
to do above and beyond all that we ask and that in His infinite wisdom He will
answer us according to His will. We know that we an call on the faith of a few
close friends too. That helps us to be strong in our prayer in times of heavy
need. Sorrow, anguish and pain are things we often need to ask for prayer for
but often we feel as if we cannot.
Sometimes we have pain that is not something we can really
share. Or maybe we have asked or prayer so many times that we just feel foolish
and afraid that God is not hearing their prayers so why bother praying ourselves. The Psalmist below had this issue and he
still cried out to God.
Today if you are hungry or hurting, pray!
Call out to God and know that He is listening.
Read the Word below and see the power that comes when we choose
to trust God to hear, and listen, and answer, and encourage us, and direct our
paths. It is all the your Bible, but it is up to each of us to read it and know the truth that builds our trust.
Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me! My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.” Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me, O God of my salvation!
Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold
me close. Teach me how to live, O Lord.
Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me. Do not
let me fall into their hands. For they
accuse me of things I’ve never done; with every breath they threaten me with
violence. Yet I am confident I will see
the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for
the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. Psalm
27:7-14
I love how many times we read the words to be brave or
strong, to have courage and to stand. It seems like it would be easy to do
these things when we read them, and that is why we have them to read; to
believe and to follow God daily. The hard part for most of us to just plain
trust Him.
It takes focus to trust once we believe because we are weak
humans, we are easily convinced to buy a new pair of shoes so why not be
convinced that we can fix our own issues?
The thing is God wants to be a part of our lives, He wants us to ask Him
for help. He wants us to know we can trust Him to follow through but again we
must be strong in Him, and in His mighty power!
Get that armor on so that you can do this! My friend used to do this every day with her children physically acting out the dressing themselves with the Armor of God. I bet if I asked any of them today to recite this scripture they could! They know what they need to do. Often we know what to do and we just do not do it. Sometimes just acting it out is not enough though, as a child sure, but as an adult we need to put it into our spirit, soul and mind! We need to know that these things stand for other things. They are not just physical pieces of clothing but they are part of our spiritual lives.
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Ephesians 6:10-18
Take some time today and read this portion over again and
think about what each part represents in your life. Make sure you have your
battle armor ready so that you can fight against the enemy and his cronies! Be prepared
to fight for what you believe! And when you have done all… stand on His
promises!
In Jesus’ name,
