How do you pray? In His Word 1-2-2023

How do you even pray?   In His Word 2023

When you pray, you can talk out loud, you can think the thoughts, but it’s what you say that is important for the most part. I have two friends who have lost or are about to lose loved ones. It is hard to know what to pray. Pray for healing, for hope, for encouragement, for faith to move a mountain? Jesus’ disciples also wondered how to pray and so they just asked Him.  We can do the same, ask and you shall receive? The thing is when you pray and a loved one still goes home is it your fault or God’s or is it just what happened? Some answers are so far beyond our knowledge that we just do not get to understand it yet, but God knows why and when we die. So when you pray…

And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Matthew 6:5

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you [b]openly. 7 And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Matthew 6:6-7

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.  Therefore, I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. Mark 11:23-25

Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”

So He said to them, “When you pray, say:                                                                                    Our Father in heaven,

 Hallowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come.

Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us day by day our daily bread.

And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us

And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.” Luke 11:1-4

That was very encouraging to me!  To read all these things and look at what I am walking through I can find encouragement I how to pray for my friends and their needs. It is not for me to say “I Prayed and this happened” but it is for me to pray. When we pray we need to pray quietly or be alone where no one else hears the prayer that does not need to hear it. I say that because there are times when praying aloud helps someone else see that God is hearing their needs.

Some people will hear what the need is before you tell them, via the Holy Spirit they know just how to pray. I think that is the biggest faith building prayer! When we know that God has shared the need before we did it shows that He hears us and He gets us and knows our needs. Whether you pray for someone else or you are praying for God to grow your faith this year; take the time right now to pray and connect with God. Then do it again tomorrow!

Heavenly Father, thank you for today…. Thank you for your Love,  and everything you say…
