I wrote this 18 years ago and yet the truths written still ring out in my heart. Again we are going through a time of loss in the world and yet God still is on the Throne. It is time again to ask ourselves...
Are
you ready for Jesus to come back? If you died tomorrow would you know for
certain where you would end up? Where can we look to find answers to such
serious questions?
Watch
therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this,
that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he
would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you
also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Matthew 24:42-44
Be
watchful, and strengthen the things, which remain, that are ready to die, for I
have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have
received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch, I
will come upon you as a thief and you will not know what hour I will come upon
you. You have a few names even in Sardis
Revelations 3:2-4
Then the LORD said to me, "You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word." Jeremiah 1:12
"The LORD was ready to save me; therefore we will sing my songs with stringed instruments…Isaiah 38:20
It seems as though many people are
dying lately. Either by natural causes or by being murdered. Each time I watch
the news I hear of people being murdered or found dead with questionable
circumstances. I can’t help but wonder if they knew the Lord. Where did these
people go to spend eternity?
I know how I came to find out who
the Lord God is, and how I ended up making Him my personal savior and Lord. It
took a few different people telling me about His goodness before it even peeked
my curiosity. I know that most of these people will never know that their words
or the ‘tracks’ they left brought someone to the saving Grace of God.
I can never be thankful enough to
God for sending them to speak the truth to my heart. Each day as I thank the
Lord for being my Lord, and for giving me a new day in which to live I am
grateful for all He has done.
I want to be ready for anything He has planned for me each day, each moment, I want to be ready.
Ready for Battle- though I do not
fight in a war with weapons of metal, I do my fighting on my knees.
I trust my Master and Commander to lead me to the battle of His choosing and to direct me in the way that I should pray. I want my heart to be right before my God and my King to present myself a living testimony of His goodness, to be instant in season and out of season. I want to be ready to speak His Word freely in prayer as well! That means I have to study to show myself approved!
Be
diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Tim 2:14-16
Ready for Planning- when I want to plan for what to buy at the grocery store I will write a list. In order to be ready for the planning I get the supplies together to do that, a pencil and a paper. This may seem simple but if I try to plan my trip with out taking notes I would forget something. When I am getting ready to plan for something God has given me to do I need to be ready too. I need to be prayed up and ready to accept the plans He has for me. I need to know the Lord personally or it will do me no good when I get to the planning stage. Also I need to have my Bible on hand for it is my sword!
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11-12
For the word of the LORD is right and
true; He is faithful in all he does. Psalms
33:4
Ready to Help Those in Need – I need to be willing and God will make me able.
She
extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. Proverb 31:20
Ready to Write
What He Wants Me to Write- Even if I wonder why He wants me to write what I do
I have to trust that God knows what is best.
Whether it reaches a new place in my life or not, it may reach someone
else just when they needed. If I write
or speak only in my own selfish needs I may be the only one God can reach
through the ministry of writing He has given me. Perhaps it is a letter or a
note to encourage a friend who is going through a rough time or maybe a check
for someone in need. Writing does not always come in devotional form. Our Lord
can use any form of writing, even as small as a grocery list! The important
thing is making sure that we are prayed up, in communion with our Lord so that
the word that come from our pen, or out tongue will be Godly encouragement and
not worldly wise.
My
heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the
King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. Psalm
45:1
Ready for
Anything!
My hearts cry must be “Lord make me ready!” He was ready in the hour of my
need, He made me ready with peace when I needed it; even so I must be ready to
heed His call!
I need to be ready in my heart,
By knowing that
He is my Lord,
Ready for battle
by being in His Word,
Ready for
direction
By allowing Him
to be my Guide
And knowing that
Jesus is always at my side!
You
also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not
expect him." Luke
12:40
Dear
Heavenly Father- Lord I want to be ready. Make me be what you want me to be.
Lead me in the paths you would have me walk, for Your name’s sake. In Jesus
name, amen.
