Today’s
rewind comes from the summer of 2005. I
love how God can use words from the past to reach our hearts and minds even
today!
In
His Word-8-15-05
With all that goes on in a Summer
Vacation how can one find any peace? Not to mention when things start to break
and money starts slipping away, and the days are getting shorter and there is
still so much to do. Where do you go to find peace through the valleys of
summer?
In
His Word!
He
has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me,
For
there were many against me. God will hear, and afflict them, even He who abides
from of old. Selah Because they do not change, therefore they do not fear God. Ps 55:18-19
Cast
your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the
righteous to be moved. Ps 55:22
I
will hear what God the LORD will speak, for He will speak peace to His people
and to His saints. But let them not turn back to folly. Surely His salvation is near to those who
fear Him, Ps 85:8-9
Great
peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble. Ps
119:165
The word ‘peace’ is actually in the
bible 407 times! That’s a lot, considering that some of the other important
words, ‘joy’-218 times and ‘goodness’ is only in 20 times, ‘love’ is only 387 in the NKJV! So, we can understand
that peace is something God really wants us to think on.
Peace
is something God wants us to have! He loves us, and His goodness is given to us
in joyful ways, but His peace is said to pass understanding!
In Psalm 55 we read that God
redeemed the writer’s soul in peace. Have you ever felt that you needed saving
from the trouble you were in? That your car was broken in the middle of a
freeway, and you needed to get help but there was no phone around… or maybe you
had piles of paperwork to get through by the end of the day and your computer
was flaking out on you? Where did you go to find peace?
Some
people think they can find peace in a cup of coffee. If we watch the TV adds we
will see many encouraging this aspect of seeking peace. Or in an Iced Tea Plunge! Well, those things
can bring us to the point of taking time to think about things, which can give
us a momentary peace. But only God can give us the whole thing, the real deal--
the peace that passes understanding down in our hearts!
So
how can we receive this peace? Do we go to a store and buy it in a can?
“I
wish that it was that simple!” you say?
It is!
Pray-
Practice prayer punctuality! God is always waiting for us to come and pray… be
on time! Don’t make him wait anymore! Plan to spend time, sharing and hearing
His voice in prayer. His overwhelming peace will flow through you when this
happens! The Psalms are full of prayers David prayed in the midst of battles
and in the midst of death… and God granted Him peace!
Excursus- Use the faith… the faith in God to
help you through, to encourage you to guide you!Keep the conversation going. Know that His Word is full of
remembrances of times He has come through tougher times than you are in and
made it through! God is able; you know it so work with Him! Stretch those Godly
muscles reading the Bible daily make the time longer each week just as you do with
weight training or any other excursus you increase in baby steps. Do those
reps! When you work out physically you repeat the same excursuses', so repeat
the same reading until you get it!
Allow
God to move! Allow God to do what you are waiting for! Accept that He is in control,
and He is the one who has to work through it for you. The peace will come when
you realize He is working on it for you!
Create
a promise book! Write out all the scriptures that God shows you that encourage
you in what you are going through. His peace will overflow in your heart each
time you read them! Journals are cheap,
only a dollar at the dollar stores! Get one today and start writing down good
things to think on!
Encourage-
Encourage yourself in the Lord. You can write it down, you can read the Word,
and you can do anything to remind yourself of His goodness. Listen to praise
tapes, or any Christian CD that lifts you up. Just don’t dwell on the problem,
the doldrums or whatever you are seeking peace in. Focus on Him, His goodness,
and His love for you! Do you know that
God loves you so much and thinks you are so important that He would drop
everything just to listen to your cry? He loves you that much! So much He died
for you! Jesus died for our salvation, but also so that we could communicate
with God the Father in such a wonderful way! So, we would know that He is
available for us! When Jesus died on the cross, He opened up the door to our
hearts so that we could be close and feel loved by God as well as knowing it
intellectually. That we might have peace and have it in abundance! .
Now
as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, "If you had
known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your
peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when
your enemies build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on
every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and
they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the
time of your visitation." Luke
19:41-44
These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace, I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:25-28
In
all of your life’s funs and troubles I pray that you may find peace. I hope that
as you read the Word you will find that God has already given you place for accepting peace over fear! In Jesus’
name!
Now
may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be
with you all. 2 Thessalonians 3:16
Dear
Heavenly Father, Thank you for Your peace that passes understanding! Thank you
for immeasurable peace in our hearts and minds when we keep our minds on You
Lord God. Thank you for hearing our prayers and responding in our times of
distress, or times of sorrow, need, whatever we cry out to you for today we
thank You for that peace. In Jesus name, Amen.

Rom 8:24-25
For we
were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one
still hope for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we
eagerly wait for it with perseverance.
