Waiting on Him in His Word 1-5-2022

Waiting on Him

“Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. 1Kings 10:11-12

I know a lot of people think you have t o pray loudly so God will hear you. I know a lot of people who like to speak quietly in an almost whisper at His feet. Still others like to offer up silent prayers.  I don't think it matters if you are loud or quiet when you speak to God, but I do think He sometimes likes for us to sit quietly waiting on Him to respond. Just basking in His presence listening for that still small voice.

Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation,  my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone.  He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.  Psalm 62:5-8

Today, let us pour out our hearts to the Lord and accept His refuge. Accept that He is already the conqueror of all that we suffer, or fight against. Let's just trust Him to respond in His time and huddle in to His refuge in peace. Don't bother yelling at Him, just enjoy His presence and know that He will keep you who have put your trust in Him safe and secure.

In Jesus' name.
