It’s in us… In His Word 7-12-2021
Christ is in us via the Holy Spirit, or the Comforter, or the Advocate in some versions, that Jesus said would be sent to us in His stead. We are saved and accept this addition to our lives and live with Him as our director of our path from that point on. Another thing that is in us is His peace! He said; “ Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you, not as the world gives do I give it to you, do not be discouraged or afraid for My peace I give to you.”
But when the Father sends the Advocate as my
representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will
remind you of everything I have told you.
“I am leaving you
with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world
cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. Remember what I told you: I am going away, but
I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that
I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am. John 14:26-28
So, we do not need to worry about things going on in the
world around us. We do not need to cry out for peace because we bring it! We have the peace of God within us and we
need to share it with those around us in the world! We do this by walking in His presence daily, remembering
that God is with us and keeping our profile fitting to this life with Christ!
This means we shed off those old, tattered garments to put on the ones that
exemplify Christ in us. Do not watch what He would not enjoy watching, no
matter who you think you are trying to impress. I speak to myself here as much
as anyone because I know sometimes, I have viewed things that I would rather
not have for the sake of peace among people. We need to seek God and ask Him to
find the things in us that are wrong. Yes, I said wrong. We tend to live as
Christ, who technically is in us, via Holy Spirit’s presence. We really are
dragging Him along on our walk. If we walk through the dung, He will get the
same view as us. So, let’s try and remember this each day as we go out into the
world. Remember to not allow people to be controlled by their sinful nature
anymore than we allow ourselves to be controlled by it.
So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within
you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil
desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the
things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. You
used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is
the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty
language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful
nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on
your new nature and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become
like him. In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is
all that matters, and he lives in all of us. Colossians 3:5-11
It is in us to do what is right, and what is good, no longer
doing what is wrong in God’s eyes we can grow closer to Him and further from
the world.
It is in us to ignore the anger that wells up in us when
people are rude to us, but instead to forgive them and pray for them.
It is in us to shield ourselves with our shield of faith to
protect our own heart and mind from tarnishing itself on the things of this
world we are forced to live in.
Sure, things are getting harry scary out there, but we can live in peace because peace has been left in us! We do not need to worry or fret. We do not need to run and hide. Jesus has our back. He has overcome all these things, and those to come, so we may have peace and have life more abundantly! That abundance comes when we set our mind on things above and not on earthly things. When we remind ourselves that He is in us, Peace is in us, and the Hope of Glory is in us, we too can overcome these things with and through Him.
