Living in the Fruit-in His Word 6-14-2021

My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory. What does that even mean? Does it mean he will give me everything I think I need, everything I want, just to make me happy?

Sorry but the answer is no. Just as we do not get healed of everything that we ask for healing for,  just when we want it, but when it is the perfect time and the perfect way to be healed; our God supplies according to His idea of our needs. Sure, we can pray, and our prayers are answered, not just because we want to have them answered but because God hears them and either has compassion on us or deems us worthy of His choice to heal. Now some may disagree with that, and some will just say that God doesn’t care if we pray or not, but I say yes, He does! I say my God answers according to His choice to answer it. Now according to my reading in the Word Jesus healed many people. Some even touched the hem of His garment to be healed and others he touched or had complete conversations about their faith. By these words that He said over and over; “Your faith has made you whole”, we know that our Lord Jesus chose to heal those who had faith to be healed. Now we know that faith is a substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen, or not yet seen as some versions say.

Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen. Hebrews 11:1-3

If we read on, we can see that faith is essential to salvation. Just what is faith? We believe that something is so and thus we can see it in our mind’s eye, so to speak. We trust that God will heal, and we believe that it will be done. That in a nutshell is faith. But, what if our faith waivers?  James talks about this as well in  James 1. He tells us not to be wavering in our faith but to be solid. We need to trust God to do what He says He will do in His Word. That means we trust that He is real, that He has healed people and can heal us. He created us, and even though we have not physically met Him we know that God is able to do all things. We can believe in Him and know that He is able because of the fact that His Word tells us everything comes from Him. If the Word says it, we can believe it and know that it is what He wanted in the Bible. All scripture is God breathed, remember?

Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.  Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures. James 1:16-18

Do you know that it is common to be of little faith? Most of us do not have faith to stand on a promise let alone to believe for our healing. Even the disciples who were right there with Jesus had fear that they would drown during a storm. So do not beat yourself up when you do not think God will do what you know from reading it in the Word, He will do. Instead read more stories in the Bible that fuel your faith.

The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” Then Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped, and all was calm.  Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?” The disciples were terrified and amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!” Luke 8:24-28

Read the full chapter in Hebrews 11 and James 1 today. Trust that it is true, and that God will come through for you. I fail at this often, so God gave me a motto to remind me to be Blessed not stressed. I can choose to worry that I do not have enough faith to move the mountain in front of me, or calm the storm I am sailing through, or I can trust that God will take care of me regardless.

At the moment I have all I need—and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.  And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Now, all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen. Philippians 4:18-20

Even if I fail, my God will supply my needs. His own disciples failed to trust that they would be saved, this was not the only time but we know that God put this in His Word so we can see that we can trust Him to take care of us, and that in itself is faith! Faith is trusting in a great big God who can move a mountain and calm a sea! He takes care of us!

According to the Complete Jewish Bible version, faith is trusting.  Hebrews 11: 1 Trusting is being confident of what we hope for, convinced about things we do not see. It was for this that Scripture attested the merit of the people of old.

There was a reference in that version for the word ‘Trusting’ to I will stand at my watch post; I will station myself on the rampart; I will look to see what [God] will say through me and what I will answer when I am reproved. Then Adonai answered me; he said, “Write down the vision clearly on tablets, so that even a runner can read it. For the vision is meant for its appointed time; it speaks of the end, and it does not lie. It may take a while, but wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay.  Habakkuk 2:1-3.

We live the fruit when we walk in faith and wait for it, we wait for the answer to come continuing on in our lives without wavering in the waves of life but taking each step believing that God will come through, the faith that we have is the proof we need of substance. Faith is the substance, the evidence, the proof. We just need to walk our lives out in the fruits of the Spirit as love, peace, joy, kindness, self-control and all the rest of them flow through us. We bring them to remembrance; we can remind ourselves to trust Him. By reading the Word we can bring them to remembrance and stand strong, Jesus is in control of the storm the moment they asked for Him to wake up.  Though God is not asleep, He is ever alert and ready to help, when we put our requests before God in faith, trusting, believing , hoping for Him to answer; then we walk in that hope! We believe. In Jesus’ name. The answer will come… wait for it!
