Advent Daily Reading Day 5- December 5th 2020
Psalm 146:16-21
And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter
heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus
opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And
since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right
into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty
consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our
bodies have been washed with pure water. Let us hold tightly without wavering
to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think
of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not
neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another,
especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:19-25
Do not give up hope, seek God, draw near to Him. Do not stop meeting together, instead draw near to one another in the Lord! Whether it is online or in person, gather to worship the Lord today my friends! Stir up that love for one another, keep it fresh, keep it new and alive!
Just like soup if you cook a soup or a
stew you need to stir it up to spread
out the flavor, to keep it from burning, or getting mushy, to cook it evenly,
to mix it up. To keep the Word fresh in
your life you need to read it, then speak it out with people, share what God is
showing you! Get excited about it again! Stir up the gift that is within you!
We can draw near to God by spending time in prayer and worship, sing praises to God so we can hold on tight to the hope we have in Him to bring us through everything
to complete what He has promised. Let us help others to remember that He is faithful to do all
that He has promised.
I have told all your people about your justice. I have not
been afraid to speak out, as you, O Lord, well know. I have not kept the good
news of your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about your faithfulness
and saving power. I have told everyone in the great assembly of your unfailing
love and faithfulness. Lord, don’t hold back your tender mercies from me. Let
your unfailing love and faithfulness always protect me. Psalm 40:9-11
Stir up love, and good deeds! Do not get stuck in the spot you are in because you feel sorry for yourself about not getting to go out to eat, or to hang out with friends in person at the mall at this time of year. Instead encourage others to spread love and good deeds, if not in person that from a distance! Share with one another whatever He has given you, whether it is food or words, hope, encouragement, peace… share it with one another and do not forget to keep it in mind, keep it fresh!
Why not 'Door Dash' someone a coffee, or even a bag of
fruit to surprise them! Just to give someone a smile! There is so much we can do even if we
cannot personally walk up to someone we can send them treats in the mail, a
note card, a letter in Jesus name! Send love, hope, and encouragement!
Bless them as you would like to be blessed.
When Mary and Joseph got married anyway, they did this in a
way, they showed their faith in God the Father by their actions. They showed
that they trusted Him to do what He said and obeyed His directions. In this
they blessed those around them with an example of what they also should do; trust God. We can also look at what Elizabeth’s pregnancy brought to her
community. In Luke 1:57-66, you can read what the neighbors thought and said about
baby John. What a joy it was to read the hope these people brought out!
Follow this example.
Keep your thoughts on things above and do the good things
that help to encourage other people today. And now, dear brothers and sisters,
one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right,
and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and
worthy of praise. Keep putting into
practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and
saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9
