Advent Reading in His Word December 10, 2020

Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.  For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all. However, he has given each one of us a special gift through the generosity of Christ. That is why the Scriptures say, “When he ascended to the heights, he led a crowd of captives and gave gifts to his people.”  Ephesians 4:1-7

2 Corinthians 3:18 tells us we are changing to become more like Jesus, our hearts and minds being focused on Him and how He directs us to walk in our lives changes us as we follow Him through each day. We could choose to give it all up and go the way the world directs us or we can follow God, His judgement is what counts. We are called as Christians to be good stewards of the mysteries of God. Now that we know He is the Lord we need to take care to share that with the people whom He gives us to share it with. Now that we know the power of prayer, we need to share that as well!

Therefore, since God in his mercy has given us this new way, we never give up. We reject all shameful deeds and underhanded methods. We do not try to trick anyone or distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know this. 2 Corinthians 4:1-2

The world may think it is odd to believe, or have faith, in a God who can do the impossible, but we do not care what the world may do, we care what our God can do in and through our lives. We choose to give God the glory for our goals, our dreams and desires coming through to fruition. We choose to give God the praise when good things happen and reach out to Him when they go wrong.  1 Corinthians 3:18

Mary and Joseph chose to follow God’s direction and accepted the fate before them to raise God’s son. The shepherds that were in the fields and were visited by the angelic being heard them say Do not be afraid and the famous line of “Peace on earth good will toward men” They heard of the birth of the Christ, the Messiah and went to see for themselves. Why not check things out, try God and see that His promises are true! So, they went to see Jesus then went to tell everyone else to go see Him. I am being obedient to God to share with others and in this I receive peace and joy unspeakable! I encourage you to do the same. Luke 2:8-20

Today let us find that peace that comes from knowing that Jesus is Lord, then share it with others. Let them know that He has it all in control, today, tomorrow, next week, next year… it is all in His hands.

 In Jesus’ name.
