In His Word-3-23-2020
Walking through the Bible as we walk
through this time in our lives, for some of us, gives us strength! It gives us
hope, peace and reveals truths to us that help us pass the time. For some
though who do not walk through the Word but take a stab in the dark approach to
reading it, it can be confusing. What I mean is they hope for a moment then get
overwhelmed by the darkness the next randomly.
I have heard many people claim prophetic
things about this virus going around and the proportions do look pretty Biblical
as they say so it is easy to get swept away and wonder if it’s the end of the
world or if its just another man made issue for us to deal with and call on the
Lord for help.
I mean, either way it is fine, because our
God’s Word says He is an ever-present help in our need all over the Psalms.
God is our
refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalm
46:1
I remember a few
years back one of the camps I served at was called “Run to Him” it was really
pretty pointed teaching the campers to run to Jesus when you want salvation,
help, love, hope, and pretty much for any need. Sometimes these kid lessons can
teach us adults how to behave!
Even just to have
someone to talk to when you are on ‘shelter in place’ or ‘health lock down’ we
can run to Him!
Run to Jesus and tell
Him your fears He will replace it with hope!
Run to Jesus when you
are worried about what will happen next…
He will give you
direction and a purpose to follow until the day comes when you are free!
Sometimes we just
need to kneel and pray, and remain there for a while to receive the peace that
passes understanding we used to sing about. To get that joy down in our hearts
again we must read, worship in psalm and spiritual songs, keep filling our hearts
with the Words that will strengthen our resolve to be at peace with the world’s
issues for the moment.
After all, we can
choose to stress out and complain about everything and everyone or we can find
a way to make it work for us, find peace, hope and joy in the moments. The more
we share of the good things we see and hear the more people will remain calm.
Think about it; if we
throw gas on a fire it will burn bigger. If we toss some water on it, it will
put it out. Water is pure, gas is stinky. I like to toss some words like water
on a flame, but sometimes the two don’t mix so you need to treat that water
with the Word! God’s Word will not come
back void. What I want to do is pray remembering the Word of God, the hope, the
joy and the peace will come from there and flood my heart and mind, in Jesus’
name! When we are believers, followers of Jesus, also known as Christians, we need
to be walking in faith during tough times, we need to fully rely on God, we
need to think about what Jesus would do in these circumstances and all the
other cool sayings that people make jokes about… Do the Word!
Therefore will not we fear, though
the earth be removed,
and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 though the waters thereof roar and be troubled,
though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God,
the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved:
God shall help her, and that right early.
6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved:
he uttered his voice, the earth melted.
7 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
8 Come, behold the works of the Lord,
what desolations he hath made in the earth.
9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth;
he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder;
he burneth the chariot in the fire.
and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
3 though the waters thereof roar and be troubled,
though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

10 Be still, and know that I am God:
I will be exalted among the heathen,
I will be exalted in the earth.
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
I will be exalted among the heathen,
I will be exalted in the earth.
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Psalm 46:1-11
Heavenly Father, pour out your peace on
all nations, Lord heal us and keep us close to your heart, and give us peace
that is unbelievable as people begin to heal from the torments and the
illnesses, heal their hearts as well. In Jesus’ name, amen
