More! In His Word 11-13-17

More -In His Word 11-13-17
Today’s people seem to want more; more cars, more food, more money, more hope. They want more than they need but they need more than they want. I say this because what they really need is more of Him, or more time spent in His Word!

Lately as I read it is sporadic, somewhat random places that I travel through in His Word. I have been walking with Jacob after he wrestled with God and knew the plans He had for him; I have walked with Paul out of the jail cell alone with Silas when they let him go because of the power of God and yet he stayed to be properly removed. I have also walked with Jesus as He sat with a hand full of men, including Peter, on a beach and spoke wisdom into their lives to strengthen them for the live they would lead.  In all of these reads I have been drawn into the visual of where they were and I felt as if I were there. This is what happens when I spend more time in my Bible. Who have you visited this week?
Was it Mary as she ran to visit Elizabeth? Or perhaps you were a bystander on the road to Damascus with Paul?
Maybe you were able to touch the hem of His garment alongside the road when Jesus walked by?

No matter what we are walking through in life there is a peacefulness that can come when we spend a little more time in our Bible reads. Especially if we stop to think about what we read when we close the book. I am not saying you have to be a Bible Scholar, but that we all should stop and think about what we read each day and ask God what we are to do with it.
Many shall nations shall come and say; Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths, for out of Zion the law shall go forth, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.  Micah 4:2

I ask myself how can He teach me of ‘His ways’ if I do not read of them and pray to Him to ask for guidance? If you continue on you find that we will be assembled and gathered together to learn, to grow closer to Him and do walk in His way. Before we can walk in it we must know what it is all about and were it is in the first place. In all of our lives we must know the Word of God to grow stronger, healthier, more prosperous in many ways.
Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God—  the gospel he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scripture regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.  Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith for his name’s sake.  And you also are among those Gentiles who are called to belong to Jesus Christ. Romans 1:1-6

We too are called to be set apart for the gospel of God. We too are given power by the Holy Spirit that we can do all that God has called us to do and be; but if we do not read the Word and pray, how will we know it is true?

For all things are for your sakes that grace, having spread through the many cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. Therefore, we do not lose heart, even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, for we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:15-18

If anyone serves Me let him follow Me and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor. John 12:26

When I first ‘got saved’ or ‘found Jesus’ or whatever word you choose to call the time that you first believed; I did not think I believed the full Word of God. The truth was I had never read it. The more I read the New Testament, the more I learned that there were references to the Old Testament. Eventually I realized that there was so much more to learn about Jesus in the O.T. and I had a firm desire to study it out and read it through and figure out just what God was all about so that I could live a life pleasing to Him.
That is what our lives are all about; our purpose, our calling, our needs are all to follow God and do what He desires for us to do. He just allows us some other things to do to grow us into the man or woman that He chose for us to be.
It could be that we do not realize the perfection in our Father’s guidance through His Word, it could be that we just do not get it, but He has a plan for each of our days. In fact it says in Matthew 10:30, that the very hairs of our head are counted. Jeremiah 29 tells us He knows the plans He has for us.  He knows us in detail but it is our job to know Him and know His peace.
If we struggle and struggle through life trying to do things on our own and keep making the wrong choices then we will keep falling in the same mud. It is only when we relinquish that desire to control everything and remember to put our faith in God to literally direct us that we can have eternal peace.
I am not saying that things will always go right, we are humans and we will definitely get into some trouble in our lives but God has a plan He has a way out when we get ourselves there. The plan is found In His Word!
So I pray today that you will totally turn your plan over to His plans for your life today. Stop worrying what is next and truly let go of the stress and let God take it on.

I am speaking from the heart today because I stress over everything from which travel cup will or will not fit in the cup holder to whether it will leak if I knock it over and make a mess. Yes, I am telling on myself! I need to let go and let God take the controls and stop being such a micro-manager! I do mean micro! I know the truth I know my God has the control but that I keep pulling on the reigns. It is had to believe that my God will take on the minor things in life, but as my husband said to me today; I need to have faith in God. I need to truly believe that God has my back and just go with it!
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,  and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. 2 Corinthians 10:4-6

Dear Heavenly Father, Help us today to totally trust n You, to follow what You say in the Word of God and to keep our eyes on the finish knowing that You really do have our best interest at heart. Help us to gather more wisdom, more guidance and more of You; in Jesus’ name, amen.
