What is in His Word? 9-11-17

Before I knew the Lord, I knew the Bible was something ‘godly’. I learned this in school in Canada. Each year they would begin reading in Genesis 1:1. I remembered that one verse without realizing it as each year for pretty much 8 years of my life I heard the same thing. “in the Beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
It actually encouraged my inner desire as a child to know who Jesus, God, and the Father really were, or was. All I knew about Jesus I had colored in visited Sunday and Wednesday night clubs. I was sure He loved me but not sure how that would affect my life. In fact, I did not even realize that in knowing these things about him I was learning to believe in Him through the Word.

Think for a moment, what one thing was it in the Word that drew you into a desire to dig deeper into the subject and see what it was all about? Was it a preacher that suddenly sparked a good topic that resonated with you? Were you forced to read it as a child and one day remembered the words as you ran into a desperate situation that validated the need for such words? It took me several visits and a couple of other incidents in my life to bring me to the desire to read it for myself.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from?  My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121
There is help in His Word.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11
There is peace in His Word.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

There is love in His Word.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8.
He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you  who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.  Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,1 Peter 1:20-22
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed onus, that we should be called the children of God! Therefore, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be but we know that when HE is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
1 John 3:1-3

There is a word for you today, in His Word! The Lord our God has breathed it into existence and there will be something inside the cover that brings relevance to your life and resonates to your heart as you read it; pretty much every time. There are of course times when we do not really pay attention to what we read. Sometimes we may try to ignore what has been written right there in front of us. God knew that! He has even put scriptures about the idea of ignoring thing, in His Word!  Are you ignoring Him today? I pray that you are not, I pray that you are seeking God and discovering for yourself what is in His Word.

For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished.  So, what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak? And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose.Hebrews 3:2-4

I would not complete this article today without mention that there is History in His Word. God has laid engines. The real thing that is mentioned in the Word is that it is God breathed, inspired word of God. He has given it to us for His purpose in our lives
It is my prayer that each of will not only enjoy the short blocks of verse I post here but that each of us continues to dig into our personal Bible and see for ourselves what is truly in His Word.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for giving us Your Word. Thank you for opening it up to our hearts and minds that we may know you and your purpose in us even more. Open our eyes Lord that we may see what you have to say, open our ears Lord that we may hear your voice. In Jesus name, amen.
