What are you
hoping for? In His Word 7-17-17
Don't give up! Don't give in! Give it all to Him... and persevere in your walk with Him today my friend! You and God can do this thing! Whatever it is.
“I hope it
cools off! I hope I have a nice day! I hope the Lord wills for my family to
remain safe and healthy and live long lives. I hope I can get closer to God!”
There are many
things that we hope for each day, from as big as good health and healing to a
the light changing so we do not have to sit at the light a second longer than
we desire.
There is an
old song called “My Hope is Built on Nothing Less”
It says “My
hope is built on nothing less than Jesus love and righteousness” I hope that I
can always stand true to those words as they touch my heart even reading them.
I may show my
age but the songs like this that we used to sing in church in the old days seem
to have an excellent design. They make you stop and think about what you re
singing.
What is my
hope built on today? What is your hope built on? What do you stand on?
I find the
answer in the news sounds much like David in Psalm 12! There are so few who
really seek God today as they seem to want fun, and adventure or and ‘experience’
over actually seeking God for themselves.
The faithful have vanished from the earth!. Psalm 12:1-3
We as Christians need to remain faithful, we need
to know where we put our hope. Is it in the governing figure head of our
country? I hope not! If we put all our eggs in that basket we will often find
them cracked!
We need to follow the rules and laws of our land
but we need to put our trust in Jesus. When we accepted Him as our Lord, we
chose to put our hope in Him. We chose to be faithful just like Jesus; trusting
the Father God even to the end of time.
For if we are faithful to the end,
trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all
that belongs to Christ. Hebrews 3:14
When we sing a worship song, we need to be
worshiping Jesus not just having fun with it. I enjoy a good song of praise to
God, don’t get me wrong; but we need to be thinking about the words we sing
today. We need to know that they are words we would direct to our God.
Sometimes the words are there to remind us of all
He has done, and sometimes they are there to share our hearts with God. Either way
they are to draw us nearer to God and away from the world’s influences. You
know, remember all that He has done for us? Forget about our selves, concentrate
on Him and worship Him!
And
so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of
Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way
through the curtain into the Most
Holy Place . And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s
house, let us go
right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our
guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean,
and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Let us hold tightly without
wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate
one another to acts of love and good works. us not neglect our meeting
together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the
day of his return is drawing near. Dear friends, if we
deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth,
there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins.
Hebrews 10:19-26
When we read the Scriptures it should renew our hope in God
to be there at the end of the day. We should be able to see how God did things
back then and remember the things He has done, or see the things He is doing in
our lives today. Most of all we should learn more about Christ Jesus Himself
and why we should follow after and serve Him with all of our heart.
Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ., Remember how you remained faithful even
though it meant terrible suffering. Sometimes
you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped
others who were suffering the same things. You suffered along with
those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you
accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that
will last forever.
So do not throw away this
confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will
continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. Hebrews 10:
31-36
Some days are hard to deal with, but we can persevere because He is with us. We have Him to lean on, as well as to rejoice with when things go well in our lives; we can ask what we will and it shall be done! Jesus said so!
My hope is in My Lord, the author and the finisher of all things!
I know that if I trust in Him; believe that He will be with me spiritually
through all that I do; that He will make my path walk-able!
Though I may have to limp through it for a while, I can do all
things for His Glory through Christ who gives me strength!
Dear Heavenly Father, My hope is in You today! All of my heart,
soul and mind and strength I give you for Your glory. In Jesus name, amen.
