Purposeful Readiness- In His
Word 5/2/16
Do you ever wonder when God
will use you? Do you feel like you have been holding on to His promise on your
life for what seems like a decade and still you do not know when God will do
it?
It is possible that you
missed it… if you kept quiet when He said speak. Esther was made queen in an
impossible way at an impossible time for a Jewish young woman to have been
chosen as one to be presented to the King. Yet, God had a purpose and He had
her made ready and guided her to the perfect place in which to save his people
from being utterly destroyed.
“If
you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will
arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if
perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” Esther 4:14
Esther
was told what to do and she had to literally take her life in her own hands to
approach the King to tell him the truth. She didn’t think it was for her to do,
but her relative told her the words above and it gave her the courage to step
up.
There
have been times in my life that God urged me to do something, whether it were in
the form of a word to tell someone that sounded kind of strange to me but had a
ton of meaning to the person I was sent to, or to step up and be support for
someone else to speak out the truth. God has purposefully placed each of us in
the ready position to be used for His glory. Where you are in your life is not
by chance; God has a plan to use what you are going through now to bless
someone else.
He
will use you right where you are or He will bring you out of the spot you are
in right to the spot right at the moment when He desires to use you as His
vessel. Your job is to be ready and willing when He directs your path!
In 1st Samuel 17
David meets Goliath; not on purpose but by chance as he was bringing his
brother’s food supplies from home. He saw the giant and felt that call of God to
take him down. He knew God was with him in the battle and he did it!
He made peace
with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. This includes you who were once far away
from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and
actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself
through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought
you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before
him without a single fault. But you must
continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from
the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been
preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant
to proclaim it. Colossians 1: 20-23
Our job
is to keep going from day to day being ready to be used by God. Dig in the Word of
God daily, pray daily more often as you can, and get connected to a good group
study so you can glean from one another and the Word together. Trying to just
study on your own is okay for a time but there are times when things just become
more clearly understood in a group situation; this is why we are told not to
forsake the assembling together with other believers.
For I solemnly urge
you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living
and the dead when he comes to set up his Kingdom: preach the word
of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct,
rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound
and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for
teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject
the truth and chase after myths. But you should keep a clear mind in every
situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others
the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you. 2 Timothy
4:1-5
Take every opportunity to
share the God Story, the Gospel of Christ, with anyone when the opportunity arises.
Make the most out of every new person you meet to find out if they know Him.
Dear Heavenly Father, help
us to be fed in Your Word that we may be
strong in scripture and ready in spirit that we may know what to say and trust
you to help us through the situations. Keep us on fire and ready for you in
season and out of season; for such a time as this. In Jesus Name, amen.
