Jesus was one who spoke His
mind. What would you do if Jesus called you out on your sins, your efforts or even your thoughts?
He did not hold back when the temple was full of ‘money changers’ trying
to make a buck on other peoples offerings. He flipped the tables on them and
called them what they were!
15 So they came to Jerusalem .
Then Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and
sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the
seats of those who sold doves. 16 And He would not allow anyone to carry wares through the temple.
Mark 11:14-16
Again when they came out to
see His baptism by John; He called them out in the crowd.
But
when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducee coming to his baptism, he said
to them, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Therefore bear fruits
worthy of repentance, 9 and
do not think to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’
For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these
stones. 10 And
even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which
does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Matthew 3:7-10
I think most of them ran and hid, then stirred up
the crowd in the days before Jesus was crucified; they lashed out at Jesus
because He saw them as they were.
One person who stands out; one person whom Jesus
called out and reacted well was the woman at the well.
Jesus spoke to her as she
approached to draw water for her household. She was amazingly tough sounding as
she asked him why he would talk to her; she being a Samaritan and He being a
Jew. Who would have thought she would be come one of the most important people
in the Word of God in the way of evangelizing a whole community?
16 Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband,
and come here.”17 The woman answered
and said, “I have no husband.”Jesus said to
her, “You have well said, ‘I
have no husband,’ 18 for you have had five husbands, and the
one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”
John 4:16-18
She went from
being accused of living with a man without being married, to running around
excitedly sharing who He was! She became a Believer right there at the well!
And many of the Samaritans of that city
believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all
that I ever did.” 40 So when the
Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed
there two days. 41 And many more
believed because of His own word.42 Then they said
to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves
have heard Him and we know
that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of
the world.” John 4:39-42.
When we start out sharing
what God has done for us as the woman in John 4 did, just sharing what He has
done we can bring an unknown amount of people to believe in the Lord Jesus
Christ and to be saved from their sins and given peace that passes
understanding.
So what would you do if God
called you out? Would you run like a Sanhedrin; or would you go tell everyone
you see that Jesus knows your heart and He has set you free?
Daily in prayer we should
ask God to find in us anything that would pull us from His goals in our lives,
the goals to follow in His steps and share His love and direction. He will call
us on that thing we spend too much time in, whether it is gaming, soap operas,
or hanging out in a sports bar doing things you know you should not do. Jesus
wants to tell us that He knows our thoughts, our desires of our hearts and that
He will direct our paths if we just put our trust in Him.
Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalm 37:
3-7
We need to work to become
that person in whom God will see a heart of repentance, and love, peace and
humbleness. We need to become the one who would run to tell the world what Jesus
said about us!
16 So
I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your
sinful nature craves...Those who belong to Christ Jesus have
nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and
crucified them there. 25 Since we are
living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our
lives. 26 Let us not
become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.
Galatians 5:16-26.
Dear Heavenly Father, Help us to live our lives by and with the
Holy Spirit guiding us, help us to follow Your lead in all that we do that we would
be able to share what you see in us and guide others to follow You as well.
Delight in us today as we delight our selves in You; in Jesus name, amen.
