Lately I have heard a lot
of different ideas about the Holy Spirit and our lives in Christ; we have so
many untapped benefits! There is so much more to life in Christ than we utilize
in our daily walk today. Are you wondering how to gain a better understanding
about the Word of God, your Bible? Do you long for peace and contentment in
your daily life of turmoil?
It’s time for you to get-
in His Word! But wait!
How can just reading the Bible help me understand? After all it can be pretty heavy reading in
places, I mean its not all Psalms and Proverbs daily reads; how do I know what
I am reading?
But the natural man does not
receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor
can he know them, because
they are spiritually discerned.1 Corinthians 2:14
Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe
also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are
many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I
go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare
a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know,
and the way you know.” 5 Thomas said to
Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the
truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:1-6
To
start with we have to know what we believe. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ
and be saved, you and your household… is a good place to start. Once you have
believed then you can receive the Holy Spirit’s guidance right? I think that is
true, but there is also the fact that we are drawn of the Holy Spirit to be
able to ‘get it’ in the first place. I believe that God grants us a measure of
faith to believe in Him, and in that; even before we consciously make the
choice to believe He has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us to all truth. And
we know that He is the Way , the Truth,
and the Life so if we have the guide to
all truth that must be the guide
to Jesus the Christ. If we have this
Holy Spirit to Guide us then we already have received the Holy Spirit when we
first believed.
The
thing is that we do not always realize it; we do not have the head knowledge of
what our spirit knows already exists until we are taught.
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you
have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can
you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that
I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do
not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the
works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or
else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. John 14:9-11
Even His very close group of 12 did not all understand who
Jesus really was until it was taught, or spoken, to them. It is not something
we just know, it is something that has been taught to us with the enlightenment
of the Holy Spirit to show us the truth in His Word.
22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord,
how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”
23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he
will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and
make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me
does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the
Father’s who sent Me.25 “These things I have
spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy
Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and
bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you,
My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart
be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:22-27
He will give us
peace. He will give us direction, He will give us hope in the form of the Holy
Spirit; He will keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him. If you think on that for a moment you will
realize no doubt, that peace is an inner feeling of calm that goes beyond
understanding; but if we know Him we can know peace.
In Isaiah 62 the
Word says that He had put His Holy Spirit in the Israelite's and again it is
mentioned that the Psalmist asked the Father God not to take the Holy Spirit
from him.
Daniel 4th
and 5th chapters talk about Him being there and yet Jesus plans to
leave Him with us as a Comforter forever that we will not be left alone. He is
the one who will never leave us and never forsake us after all.
So when we
‘trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not in our own understanding’
knowing that He will direct our paths we can know that it is the Holy Spirit
who is our guide and it is He who directs us to all truth!
When we know God
we know that we must worship Him in both spirit and in truth; God is both
Spirit and Truth and through this we can know that we have all that we need in
Him. His presence is always with us; we
just need to realize it and believe that He is to accept Him as the Truth, the
Way and He will give us the Life He planned for us.
We need to know
what, who, we have in Him. The only way I know to find that out is to study the
Word of God, our Bibles. So let’s do that!
Dear Heavenly
Father, help us all to find Your truth in the words you have ‘breathed’ for us
to live by. Guide us with your Holy Spirit and direct our paths in Jesus name,
amen.
