Giving thanks In His Word-
6-9-14
How often do you actually thank
the Lord? I don’t mean when you say, “Well thank God you didn't eat that
burrito ‘cause it was old!” I mean honestly
and truthfully, wholeheartedly thanked God for your day. I know some times we
wake up and say thank God I have time to get ready for work, or thank God the
baby is still asleep!
Have you told Him ‘thanks’
today? Have you really knelt in prayer, or even sat in prayer or laid down face
to the ground and thanked Him for all that He has done for you?
You may be thinking, :What
have I got to thank God for? What has He ever done for me? Personally He has
done what?
If that is you I can tell
you he gave you the means in which to read this little article. He gave you
eyes to see, now pray that He will give you ears to hear and a heart and mind
of understanding that you will know that He has one everything for you.
The Lord is my light and my
salvation; whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of
my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked came
against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell.
Though and army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may
rise against me, in this I will be confident.
One thing I have desired of
the Lord, that I will seek: that I may
dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of
the Lord, and to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall
hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide
me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above
my enemies all around me; therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His
tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.
Psalm 27:1-6
God created the world,
added companions, animals to love and enjoy, beautiful flowers, beaches to
relax on and enjoy the magnificence of… He did it all for you, for me!
He gave you a job, even if
you hate it, He provided it to build the person He wanted you to be; He sees
your potential even when we fail to stand up to our own or other peoples idea
of what kind of person we should be. God made you that person who loves to
watch your children laugh, play and even when they fall down you love the fact
you are there to hold them when they cry. That’s how God is! He is there for
you and I every day, every night but we just have to realize it. Once we realize
it then what?
Then we talk to Him, aka
prayer. We tell him thank you for the beautiful daughter, or handsome son, the
smart ones, the silly ones, the people in our lives that bless us; then what?
Thank Him for helping you
through the bad times; He was there keeping it from being even worse you know?
When I first realized who God was, I looked back in my life at so many near
calamities that just turned into dramatic trauma instances instead of deadly or
worse. He stopped me from driving onto a freeway with my little cousin Michael
in the car one day with a wheel that was about to fall off!
I knew to turn onto the on ramp but drove by
it as if it were not possible to turn there. Then when I went to turn around I
just happened to turn around at A&A Automotive repair shop. A woman came
running at me and then a man waving their arms to get me to stop. I was hesitant
as it was kind of a deserted location, but I lowered my window a tiny bit and
she said; “Your wheel is about to fall off!” I was still hesitant, but told
Mikey to day there and I slowly opened the door ready to fight for my life if I
needed to.
When I saw the wheel I was surprised
it had not dropped off! Only one lug nut was partly in! If it had not been for
that ‘happenstance’ of not turning when I knew to turn I would not have gotten
off the entrance to that busy freeway! As soon as I accelerated I would have
crashed horribly. I thank God for stopping me and sending me someplace to be cared
for and my car fixed!
Another time I know God
helped me; I was driving my daughter for a recheck at the hospital in Walnut Creek , California .
Just before the left hand turn lane my car shut off. It would not restart. I
had a baby and preschool child in the car so there was nothing I could do. This
was before we all had cell phones to call AAA for help so I said “Lord, help
me, I don’t know what to do!” Just as I was being honked at and at my wits end
a man showed up in the turn lane at my window.
He told me to put it in neutral
he would give me a push. Okay my car was a light truck Ford Broncho II and not
that light really! Still this gentleman pushed my car all the way into a
parking lot and through it to find a space. As soon as we parked I turned off
the car and turned to thank the man. No one was in the parking lot but a bunch of
empty cars. No one was moving, driving or walking! The Word of God tells us
that we should be careful how we treat people because we never know when its an
angel. I think that was an angel.
God helped us out.
When You said, “Seek
My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Psalm 27:8
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Psalm 27:8
Twice in my life I could
have drowned. Several times I was hit by cars, not my fault! Yet I am still
here to thank God for it all!
In and through all that we
go through we grow as a person, we become the God loving, fearless people that
He intended us to be.
What will you thank God
for?
One of the accidents I was
in, as a pedestrian. In this not only did God send all the right people to
check me out, He also used the incident to spur my now husband of 26 years to
propose to me! It is a long story but had he not proposed that very day I would
very likely have said no!
God knew my heart, and He
used a bad circumstance to bring my sweetie to realize how much he wanted me as
his wife. I am not saying He caused the car to hit us in the cross walk with
the light on our side… just that He used the bad to bring about good.
If you think for even a moment today I bet you can
find something to thank God for; even if it’s a bottle of water that someone
handed you, or a parking space you found just in time for work. He did
something special for you today, and He wants to hear your praise for it.
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He will
strengthen your heart; wait I say, on the Lord! Psalm 27:14
Thank You Lord, You ask us
to seek Your face and here we are seeking You! In Jesus’ name, amen
