Do you even Seek Him?-In His Word 1/27/2014
Seek the Lord while you can find him.
Seek the Lord while you can
find him. Call on him now while He is near. Let the wicked change their ways,
and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that He
may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God for He will forgive generously. Isaiah 55:5-7
Then he saw wisdom and
evaluated it. He set it in place and examined it thoroughly. And this is what
he says to all humanity; ‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil
is real understanding.’ Job
28:27-28
Give thanks to the Lord and
proclaim His greatness. Let the whole world know what He has done. Sing to Him;
yes, sing His praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds. Exult in His
holy name; rejoice you who worship the Lord. Search for the Lord and for His
strength; continually seek Him.
Remember the wonders He has
performed, His miracles, and the rulings He has given, you children of his
servant Abraham, you descendants of Jacob, his chosen ones.
Psalm 105: 1-5
Do you even seek Him? I asked
myself this today as I read the scriptures above; do you really seek the Lord?
Or do you just blab at him now and again as you feel the role you live in life
makes you do? I mean it is so simple to merely kneel and pray “Dear God, thank
you for today, give us this day the needs you have planned to give us and
direct our paths…” and then stop there. But do you really seek Him?

But don’t just listen to
God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling
yourselves; for if you listen to the
word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.
James 1:22-24.
When we take the time... I know
it always seems to be about time. God deals in time and heart matters I am
finding. He wants us to seek Him with all of our hearts, minds, souls and
strength; That takes a lot of time!
So I ask again; do you even
seek Him?
Let’s check and see what it
takes to be seeking Him.
First according to the
scriptures we are to give Him thanks.
Then we are to sing to Him,
sing His praises. Psalm 105 also says to tell every one of His great and
wonderful deeds, or things He has done in our lives.
We are to search for Him. For
when we seek Him we will find him when we search for Him with our whole heart.
So, this tells us that we need to look for Him, I find that usually the best
place to ‘find’ the Lord is in His Word. One reason I like to leave Bibles out
all over my house is so that I can sit down for a break and pick up a Word
Sandwich to give me strength for the day; Seeking Him in His Word gives us strength!
So what other ways can we
seek the Lord?

Have you ever done that?
Knelt, stood, or even laid there while praying or praising Him and just
remaining there knowing that He was right there with you hearing not only your
words of your mouth but the meditation of your heart?
You know that you are truly
seeking the Lord when you can feel His presence.
You know that you are truly
seeking Him when you stop talking and can relax knowing that He will receive
your requests and He will already begin working on it.
You know that you are truly
seeking Him when you get up from prayer, praise or whatever you are doing and
you feel changed.
Think about it for a moment; Moses was changed when he came face
to face; His hair turned white and his face shown with the countenance of the
Holy Spirit.
David was changed when he
prayed until something happened.
Jacob knew he had sought God
when He wrestled with him until dawn and He was changed because from then on
Jacob walked with a limp!
Saul was changed into Paul
when he entered the presence of Jesus.
You and I are changed when we
take, make , put forth the effort to spend time really truly seeking Him and
remaining in His presence according to His Word.
Seek Him today while He may
be found; the time will come when heaven will be shut up and we will not be
able to find Him. Take the time to seek Him now, while He is near; stop and
wait until you hear that still small voice.
Give Him your heart, mind
soul and strength; He will never forsake you for doing so.
Dear Heavenly Father, Your
Word tells us to seek Your Face, and so Your face will we seek today. Give us a
moment with you that we may be changed, in Jesus’ name, amen.
