Found- in His Word-9-23-13

When you are found by a friend, a loved one or a stranger sitting at a park or in a coffee shop will you be found in the Word? Or will you be reading a gossip magazine or spreading rumors?
When you have a coffee break at work will you be out smoking a cigarette or will you find the time to pull out a scripture or two and encourage someone in prayer?

Mary and Joseph had been walking a lot that weekend, they were all over the town. They registered and gave their count of family members but when it was time to go they found they were lacking. Not in finances or food but in people. Jesus was missing. They were sure the 12 year old had wandered off playing with the other kids and so they searched, and sent others to search everywhere. He was lost!
When they finally did catch up to him, they found him in the temple.
Where will you be found ? Jesus was found in the house of God. Not only that but he was found in the Word! He was reading and discussing the scriptures with the wise men and priests of the temple!

Will you be found in the Word of God at any point in your day today?

The Word of God tells us to pray continually, to study to show our selves approved and to;
Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. And their message will spread like cancer. 2 Timothy 2:14-17

So I ask myself, where will I be found? Am I found off playing games on Facebook, or hanging around the local Starbucks? Maybe so but am I found in these places in the Word of God? Sharing and discussing the meanings of His Word? I wish I could say always, but there are times I fail. I think that's okay, but each day at least a couple times I stop to dig to enjoy and to digest a scripture or more of my Bible. Without this I would be weak. I would fall to temptations, I would be lost in this world of fun stuff to do and games to play called life! It would be so easy to fall to sin, to be a glutton, to lie and just goof off all day saying I was working. I could become lazy and eat' Bon-Bons' and watch soap operas all day! But no. I want to be in His Word because I now the Truth!
I know the truth and the truth has set me free!

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. John 8:31-32

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. John 14:16-17

I wish I could say I am always found in the Word of God, but there are days when I barely read it. I know the difference in my attitude, my mood and my laziness the days I do not spend enough time in my Word.
My humanness over powers my spiritual self and I get caught up in watching old shows on television or just the business of the day. When this happens I get agitated easily, I fuss over dumb stuff and all of this could be avoided should I just get into the Word of God for a bit more time.
I know the Lord, and my spirit is still willing to do the will of the Father daily but just as with Peter; my flesh is weak. Our spirit is guarded by the Holy Spirit and with our eyes on Christ we can stay strong digging deeper walking longer and straighter in our walk with God; with our eyes off of the prize we can be lost in our humanness and forget what the whole purpose is for us each day.
Do you find yourself getting testy or snappy at someone today? Check your Word Level for today!

How do I check my Word level?
1- Right now; can you tell someone a scripture verse random like? It doesn't have to have the address.
2- Right now; can you write a note to yourself, on computer screen or on sticky note or whatever that tells you when you read last and when you will read again?
3-Right now; Do you have a general idea where in the Bible the stories of Jesus, Jacob or Moses are found?
If you answered yes to one or more of the above questions then you are probably leveling up in the Word! If not then you need to take the following steps!
1- Carry a Bible to work with you. Set it on your desk or in a drawer or in your brief case even. Then on a coffee break pull it out open it up to Proverbs 3 and begin reading a couple or more scriptures.
2- Think on said Proverbs through out the day. See if you are doing what it says to do.
3- Make it a habit to bring your Bible to the car when you go to work, or to play so that you can make The Word of God part of your day.

These things are just a beginning but with those three things we can get in the habit of being in the Word. We can being to open opportunities for others to see that we are in the Word, they will find us there! Then we can know that we have been found in the Word!
Sure it sounds simple, but I want to challenge you to bring a Bible to work the rest of the days of this week. Take the Bible to the park if you do not work outside the home. Sit and read for at least five minutes there and digest the Word through out the day.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to be found in your house being about Your business. When we can't be found in the Lord's House let the Spirit that is in us bring out the Words in our Bibles and teach us how to do Your will in our lives; in Jesus name, amen.
