I Will Worship Him ...In His Word 1-14-13

When is the last time you truly worshiped the Lord?
I don't mean standing in church and singing along with the songs but truly worshiped the Lord? Shut out all the world around you, the person next to you, the singing of the choir, the freeway or street noise outside. I ask this because we are mostly a people who can easily be distracted from the true worship of our Lord.

Think for a moment and ask yourself; how do I worship?
Are you a true worshiper?

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the father in spirit and truth; for the father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24

What is your posture when you worship Him? Are you meek and humble before the Lord showing Him honor and giving Him praise? Or is your time of 'worship' all about making you feel good? Do you give God praises or are you just singing out and 'getting down with the music'?
God wants us to be humble as we approach His throne to worship Him. He knows the difference too! He knows if we are the focus of our time spend worshiping Him or if He is.
Even Abraham's non related servant knew when to worship the Lord God.
I think that we all have a tendency to get caught up in the fun of the 'worship service' style from time to time, and though that is not wrong, it is not worshiping Him in spirit and in truth.
True worship is a heart felt thing; just like anything else that really matters to God we must worship Him with all our heart. When we feel the need, or since the need to give Him glory and honor and let our God know just what He means to us; fully and from the center of our heart; that is true worship.

...”Here is Rebekah before you; take her and go, and let her be your master's son's wife, as the Lord has spoken.” And it came to pass, when Abraham's servant heard their words that he worshiped the Lord, bowing himself to the earth. Genesis 24:51-52
And it
Worship is humbly done. When we worship the Lord we must do so with all humbleness not pride. It is not about us giving Him the glory but it is about us giving Him the glory.
In the Word of God many worshiped the Lord on their knees, face down to the ground and hands forward; kind of how people bow down to idols in some countries even today.
The kneeling and bowing down shows an attitude of humbleness, making one smaller than God is the idea. Hands forward signifies the surrender of ones 'self' to God and of course once we have made the effort to truly get into the posture of worship we can be totally focused on Him.

So all the assembly worshiped, the singers sang, the trumpeters sounded; all this continued until he burnt offering was finished. And when they had finished offering , the king and all who were present with him bowed down and worshiped. Moreover King Hezekiah and the leaders commanded the Levites to sing praise to the Lord with he words of David and Asaph the seer. So they sang praises with gladness and they bowed their heads and worshiped. 2 Chronicles 29:30
Our spirit man must be in the worship, in order for us to worship in truth. We must know the Truth, which is Christ Jesus to truly worship Him.

Though there are times when we can worship in spirit and truth while standing, our heart, and our countenance, or spirit, must be bowed and humble in His presence in order for it to be true worship.
When our heart is humble, God sees it humble, He knows we are giving Him reverence as He deserves. If we refuse to bow even our heads to the Lord how can we be expected to bow our hearts or minds in an attitude of worship?

Why should we worship?
We worship because we are told to worship; we worship Him because we love Him.
We worship Him because He is worthy of our praise, and our thanks, and our worship.
He is worthy. There really is no one on earth as worthy as God, (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) whom we can say to “You are worthy oh Lord of our praise and our worship.”
We worship Him because He is our Lord.

Listen O daughter, consider and incline your ear; forget your own people also and your father's house; so the king will greatly desire your beauty; because He is your Lord, worship Him.
Give to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering and come into His courts Oh Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness! Tremble before Him all the earth. Say among the nations”The Lord reigns; the world is also firmly established. It shall not be moved; He shall judge the peoples righteously.”
Psalm 96:8-10

There is a song that sticks in my head, “We worship You oh mighty God, there is none like you. We worship You oh prince of Peace, that is what we long to do. We give you praise, for You are our righteousness...” If you sing the song without the tugging at your heart strings, you are not worshiping you re just singing a praise song. Do not get me wrong, the Lord loves our praises, but he desires that we Worship Him.
There is so much to learn in our daily walk, for today let us work on worshiping Him in Spirit and in Truth. Today let us put on a praise cd or download one to our tablets and put all our focus on Him. Keep all the other things out of our minds but the wonderfulness of God.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to worship You in Spirit and in truth. Lord there is none like You and for that alone we give you Praise, thanks and love. IN Jesus name, amen.
