In His Word 11-5-12
Some days get so cluttered with 'stuff to do' lists that my brain is ready to explode! Often just the stress of trying to do it all can get me riled up and I let out a roar of frustration that no doubt lands on an unsuspecting family member. When this happens it is not a pretty sight.
How can I keep it all straight and get everything done? The best way I know to keep things running smooth is to get into the Word. By getting into the Word I mean reading my Bible and listening to worship songs or singing some of my own. I renew my mind!
Renewing our minds... how do we do this? You have no doubt had a day when 'stinking thinking' has 'clouded your mind' and things were not as bad as they seemed; how do you get out of this rotten thought process.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

R-Read the Word- Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. 2 Timothy 2 14-16

E- Eternal thinking
Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Romans 12:15-17
Set our mind on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 2

N- New man thinking-
Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, Colossians 3 9-10

E- Everything put aside-Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as new born babes, desire the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby if indeed that you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 2 Peter 2:1-3

W- Walk in the Word
So shall I keep Your law continually, forever and ever. And I will walk at liberty,
For I seek Your precepts. I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings,
And will not be ashamed.
Psalm 119:44-46

When we dig in the Word of God will will find the words to fill our hearts and minds with the right things. We will find that our minds are full of whatever we are into at the moment. If you are working on a theater play you study your lines and you think about the characters in it. If you are a professional baseball player you focus on the game; you read up on the best techniques you go to conferences about how to improve your job, etc.

As Christians we are blessed in that we have a connection with the God of renewal! He renews our heart when we come to know Him. He renews our lives when we walk in the newness of receiving Him as our Savior, and we only have to work to keep our minds renewed!
And how do we do that? By the Word, and Truth that God gives us every day; when we read in our Bibles.

If you think about it for a moment what you put into your mind is what comes out of your mouth. If you hand around someone who complains a lot you will pick it up and sooner or later you do not sound so cheerful yourself. It does not matter how uplifting people say you always are God and you know that you are complaining every day. He knows you need to renew your mind!
What about the people at work who 'cuss a mean streak'? When we are around swearing a lot it will be very difficult to stop ourselves from letting out a word here and there; when it happens sorrow will no doubt follow as you realize you fell to the weakness of a weak mind,

To be strong in the Spirit of the Lord you must feed on the Word of God! To be renewed in your mind you must renew what you are doing to fill your thoughts and feelings with worship and praise and the Word of God. Then you will change your words.
Thinking on the Word and worship will cause these things to come out from your heart and mouth. It is as easy as replacing the bad influences with the God influences!

Dear Heavenly Father, Help us to do your will and fill our hearts and minds with Your Word.
In Jesus name amen.
