Do you know who you are? In His Word 3-19-19
Today the people of our country, and probably the
world are trying to figure out who we are. Some think they have to act like the
world to be loved, liked or admired. Whether it is to find someone to spend their
life with or to just have some people to hang with; people change themselves
every day to become the person they think they should be.
It brings me to wonder, why do we worry so much
about being ‘somebody’ instead of being the person God intended us to be and
being happy with ourselves just being us?
We are told we are of low self esteem, or have
this issue or that, but what if our goal in life is to be who God chose us to
be like?
I believe that the enemy just wants us to get
lost in self-worth, self pity, self gratification; in worrying what other
people think of us or who we should be, instead of being focused more on God’s
plan and less on the confusion around us.
We need to remember that God has a plan for us,
we need to remember that He does not make junk, there is a reason we stray off
the path and are enticed by the worldly desires. God loves us just the way we
are, and the way we were, and the way we will be. We do not have to perform for
Him, He just loves us.
See how very much our Father loves us, for he
calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to
this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know
him. Dear
friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we
will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for
we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as He is pure. 1 John 3:1-3
If the God of creation finds us desirable to be
His children then we must be pretty special right? Some would say “oh no God
loves everyone so where’s the special?” but I say God knew us from our mothers
womb, He chose us as the one to do the certain things He chose us to do.
Since we were chosen, God has made us the person
that is right in God’s eyes when we choose to have faith in His judgments. Not only does He call us His children but we
are His friends!
Therefore, since we have been made
right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus
Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought
us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we
confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into
problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance
develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of
salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know
how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our
hearts with his love.
When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time
and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing
to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die
for a person who is especially good. But God showed
his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still
sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the
blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our
friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still
his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can
rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus
Christ has made us friends of God. Romans 5:1-11
Let’s make it a plan today, to become who God wants, and sees us
as and not try to fit in to the world’s idea of who we are! Let’s decide now
that God has a plan, a hope, and a promise to create in us a clean heart and
renew our spirit when we accept that He is our Lord and no other person needs
to tell us how great we are or how beautiful because God thinks that we are the
best! Each one of us, as if we were the
only ones on earth, Christ died for. Each one of us is special in His sight
because we love Him back, He first loved us and we love Him back! How great is
that?
Dear Heavenly father, help us to be the us you meant us to be!
Direct our paths and help us follow the way You have laid out for us, fill us
with contentment and joy over who we are inside and how you see us all as Your
beautiful Children, and Your friends! In Jesus’ name, amen.
