Can you believe it? In the Word! 9-25-17
Some people would say we are blessed, some would say
it is just what we do; but we live in an amazing time and we know an amazing
God and savior Jesus Christ. The very fact we believe in Him without having
seen Him is a fantastic thing!
Some people had to meet Him in person before they believed. Some of us had to dream a dream to get our attention, but if you chose to believe in Jesus just because you heard the Word and accepted that He was who it said He is; you are amazing, you are blessed!
Just take a moment and think about it.
You love him even though you have never seen him.
Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious,
inexpressible joy. 9 The
reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter1:8
We have been given a wonderful chance to believe
in Jesus as our Lord and savior. Some would say, “So what? What was so hard, I
heard and I believed.” I want to tell you something, Peter wanted us to know
that it is a great thing we have done!
He wrote 1 Peter to 'the foreigners', that is us in a way.
This letter is from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. I am
writing to God’s chosen people who are living as foreigners in the provinces of
Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.[a] 2 God the
Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a
result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus
Christ. 1 Peter 1:1-2
Okay so maybe we do
not live in Turkey, or that region but if you think about it for a moment, he
was writing to those who were not born into the family of God’s people. We
learned and chose to believe, we have chosen to have faith in Christ and God is
protecting us because of this.
All praise to God, the
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been
born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with
great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that
is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and
decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until
you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for
all to see. 1 Peter 1:3-5
What is more, the prophets in the Old Testament wished that
they could find what we have. New life in Christ. They dreamed of the day they
would see the messiah and yet they did not even know it when He came.
Paul also addressed those of us who were not Jewish when he
wrote this letter to the Gentiles.
This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by
God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News. God promised this
Good News long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures. The Good News
is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family
line, and he was shown to be the Son of God when
he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus
Christ our Lord. Through Christ, God has given us
the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what
God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory
to his name.
And you are included among
those Gentiles who have been called to belong to Jesus Christ. I am
writing to all of you in Rome who are loved by God and are called to be his own
holy people. Romans 1:1-7
God loves us, you, me and everyone who chooses to Believe on
the Lord Jesus Christ, that we also may be numbered among the saved.
So, ask yourself, can you believe it?
Do you accept the challenge or the call of God on your life
to believe?
If so then have great joy! Rejoice! Be exceedingly glad! But
know that you will find trials in your life, troubles and sorrows don’t really
fade away yet… but one day.
Study to show yourselves approved by God, rightly dividing
the Word and truth.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a
worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of
truth.2 Timothy 2:15
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to listen to Your Word, as we
read each day in our Bibles. Help us to study out what it says and understand what
applies to us and what is for us to know about You. Encourage us each day to
know You more and of You more, in Jesus name, amen.
