Thankfulness in His Word 11-14-16
Do we even know how to be thankful? In
today’s world we have so many problems that we face but in truth none of it
matters a whole lot in the scope of things.
Many people today expect the wrong
things; they want money, fame, and a big house to enjoy it in. Some just want
food on the table and a good job to go to each day where you can work on doing
what you love to do and get paid for it. Others expect that they will always be
needed by their family, or co workers to complete their life.
But wait, you ask, how can that be
wrong? How can wanting more be a bad thing; it is not if you know what God wants you to do with what
He gives you. It is not wrong to want to be rich and famous if you give God the
glory for it; in the same way it is not wrong to live with just enough if you
give God the glory for what you have. We have no way of knowing when and if
things will change in our lives that make us wealthy or poor, but we can do our
best to keep our focus on the things that matter. The order of things is what
is important.
1st God, 2nd Family,
and 3rd Work; then play and whatever else floats your boat. If we remember
why we are thankful for the small things we will indeed remember to be thankful
for the big things, right? Not always. Often people find it easier to thank God
for the small things in life but forget that He is the one who gave them the
job that provided the money to buy the new car, they forget to thank Him for
provisions on the table; and they forget to thank God that they woke up in the
morning. Yes that is big stuff! We have a lot to be thankful for even if we do
not have a huge turkey on the table next week, or if we are alone this year
without friends or family. We have a God who died for us; provides for us, and
is willing to guide us to a better place than were we are now. I think Jesus
deserves our thanks for just allowing us to be sin free in the eyes of God the
Father.
This year when you sit around the table,
of one, or twenty; take the time to thank God for being God.
Read the chapter below to find some more
things to be thankful for.
But of the times and the seasons,
brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2For yourselves know perfectly that the
day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety;
then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child;
and they shall not escape.4 But ye,
brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.5 Ye are all the children of light, and
the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do
others; but let us watch and be sober.7 For they that sleep, sleep in the night;
and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.8 But let us, who are of the day, be
sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the
hope of
salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. 12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labor among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves. 14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. 15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. 16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19 Quench not the Spirit. 20 Despise not prophies. 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 And the very
God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and
body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who
also will do it.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank
you for being You. Thank you for creating us, and for giving us a plan and a
purpose that we only need ask and You will bring it to pass. Thank you for your
Love, in Jesus name, amen.
