Where does your hope come from?
In the first day of the 12th month we started Advent at my church. The pastor and his wife stood up and read from Matthew and lit a candle to commemorate the week ahead as we celebrate the first coming of the Christ. We put our Hope in Him. The interesting thing about our hope in Jesus is that it comes from Him as well and we put our hope and trust in Him each day of our Christian life. . They spoke of preparing our hearts and minds so that we will not have to repair damage we have done in the future. The best way to do that is to get in the Word of God and read about Hope, and other things that we can add to our countenance and lives. Below you will find some verses to remind you where your hope comes from and why you want to put your trust in the hands of Jesus today. I encourage you to click the links and go back and read the full chapter and think on these things today.
I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:3-5
Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him,
The help of my countenance and my God. Psalm 42:11
I rise before the dawning of the morning, And cry for help; I hope in Your word. Psalm 119:47
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the [b]evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Hebrews 11:1-3
As this is a countdown advent type of blog post I encourage you to pop back in tomorrow to see what is the focus for day 2!
Heavenly Father we thank you for the Hope you provide us with to get through the hangnails and the horrible storms of life. We ask that you add to our hope as we persevere in life's daily dealings and help us to remember that our faith and trust come from You and Your Word as we read it each day, In Jesus' name, amen
